New art from this past year!

So I haven't been very good at keeping this blog updated, but I thought I would post a few of the newer things I have done!  The sunset was in my senior show last semester, and the night sky one is a method I have been working on this semester.  It is still at it's beginning stage, but I've been getting a lot of good feedback on them.

2009 online exhibit

This piece is entitled Cirriculum.

In the education system the core curriculum of schools are often based on subjects such as Science, Math, and English.  Other "elective" subjects, like Art, are thrown away just like a piece of garbage.  Art should be included in this core curriculum in schools because it enriches the lives of students in so many ways.

This is a Lithograph, created using a subtractive technique.  First, I lay down an application of litho crayon/pencil.  Then I take a razor blade to make my marks.  On this particular image I drew the apple core and darkened the area within, then I subtracted to add details.  The area around the core was created just by making marks and detail with the pencil.

more lithos from fall 2009

These are two other lithos from this semester. One is of the moon. I was mostly focused on experimenting some more with the subtractive technique.

This one is my print dealing with the print shop topic just/unjust..... more to come on this print in the next couple weeks. This will be the one in the print exhibition.

This is a litho I did of a wilting sunflower..... It's my first one where I use a lot of subtraction to make the image.

Lithos

So this semester I entered the world of Lithography through the printmaking class I've been taking the past couple of semesters. Here are some of my litho prints. Maybe if I get ambitious I will add some more pictures soon, I just don't have any pictures of other prints I've done.

So you are probably wondering what Lithography is... it's basically a form of printmaking that is done on a stone and through many processes you run your inked up stone through a press with some paper and hopefully get a decent print of it. I included some images of my stone with one of my drawings on it.
